Feeling Brave!

Hi guys,
Well I am feeling a bit brave today and I  am going to show you pictures of me and Duncan at week 1 of training with the personal trainer, Richard to week 7 which we completed this morning.

Father’s day cards

 

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay in posting this. Not spent much time on the internet or computer. These are the cards for the Fathers Day.

For the Father in Law:

Something a bit different. I have used my new Honeysuckle Vine from Memory box…….I love this one!

Opened right out showing the new die set I have from Spellbinders – Floral Doily Accent. Also used candy and buttons from the stash.

A nice little cross stitch in the middle. The cross stitch pattern is from one of the many mags I get. I have used allsorts on this card. Father in Law loved it as it as his favorite owls on it. The card and papers are from the crop box.

This is Duncan’s card from Jennifer and the cats.

My first attempt at a double fold card for tags.

Duncan loves Dragons so I have used the Wild Rose Studio Fergus with Teddy. Instead of using my promarkers I have used my water colours which I have not used in ages………… I think I need to play with these a little bit more.

I crocheted a little owl for the father in law as I did not know how long it would take me to knit the owl for him. I got this pattern for the Art of Crochet mag that I get.

I thought I would show you a picture of my little helper helping me a lot…….NOT. Smudge does look like he is comfortable doesn’t he?????

Well we have just completed our 4th week with a personal trainer and Duncan as lost a massive 12lb and I have lost 5lb. I was a bit gutted with my loss but it was pointed out to me that I have never trainer like this before and I have found muscles that I did not know I had more like use. I have lines appearing around the muscles like my biceps and calves. So we have signed up for another 4 weeks and we have been told it is going to get harder. I will keep you updated and here is to the pain that is coming our way……LOL!!!!!

 

Right I need to get off the computer and get to work on the cross stitch I am doing………Remember this??????

Well I am on to the back stitching…….yes I remember saying I wanted to finished this before I got married and yes I have been married 10 months now…….I know I am terrible!!!!!!!!!

My knitted owl

 

Hi guys,

Well I have not been able to put my latest projects on here as they are Father Day’s things…….but I can show you this as I can not wait until Sunday…….. I have knitted my first toy……….My Father in Law loves Owls so I could not let this one go without trying…

He was fiddling in bits but I managed it. I could not wait until Fathers Day so I have entered him onto my Father in Law’s facebook page asking for a home urgently for this little owl……just waiting for the answer.

This pattern is by Alan Dart and it is part of the Owl and the Pussy Cat pattern he as done for the simply knitting magazine……..I may have to try this again but add the cat and boat.

Well after the key rings I had to make another wrist band as Duncan liked the one I made for myself…..So here it is….

The pattern is from the latest Carftseller mag, the designer is Suzanne Frank.

So I have a happy chappie now…….what to do next??????????

Key rings

 

Hi guys,

I know I said I was going to do more squares today but I really wanted to cross stitch…..We needed key rings for our keys for the padlocks that we need for the gym……..so I have been looking for patterns but not finding anything really……until I found these……..

The challenge I put to myself was that I had to use the pile that was growing in my floss organizer. Sorry the picture not very good.

A load of stars with Dee at the top in green……..this was from the Family gift sets from Cross stitch Crazy mag from way back……

Because I was busy with the key rings the hubby made my lunch

I must keep busy in the future and a girl can get use to this treatment!!!!!!

Quilting

 

Hi guys,

Well I have built up the courage to do some quilting………this is completely new to me. My hubby got me a subscription to the Art of Quilting mag so after receiving 16 issues I thought it was time to have a go…….so with issue 1 I did the below:

I have just released the bottom right corner is the wrong way…….OH NANAS!!!!! It gives it character!!!

So I could not stop there I had to have a go at issue 2:

I still have a lot of practicing to do but I think this will come when I do the last square trusting my luck….LOL!!!!!

So I looked at the next issue and thought this was a bit hard but I have managed to do it and it looks like the picture in the mag…….well after a few pints but I am proud of it……….

So I have done my first 3 squares what do you think??????

Hubby made the below as the recipe says they are slow releasing…………..we have done well this first week for watching what we eat and the personal trainer…….

Fruit flapjacks. I have lost 3lb this week and I have found I have muscles I never knew existed!!!!! I think I will have to try the fourth square tomorrow.

My Bargain

 

Hi guys,

On Wednesday me and Duncan had our first session with a personal trainer at the gym we have joined………I have never settled in a gym and always give up after a few weeks………….So this time we joined together but I did not know what to do really to get rid of all this fat I have. So we have the lovely Richard who is going to push us to the limits and show us how to use the machines correctly. So we did the legs on Wednesday night……..pain for the next 2 days with the second session on Friday night which was to work on the shoulders……….I am feeling it at this moment with just typing this post……I managed to do my weeding……with  a lot of groaning……….Duncan is suffering as well. It does not finish there as tomorrow morning we will be doing the third session on the back and chest. The best bit is then we have 2 days off and start all over again on Wednesday. I am enjoying it but it is very hard work. Will keep you posted on this as we go along and in the future I may be able to show you the before and after pictures.

Anyhow back to the bargain I was telling you about………………..Well Sue at the Wool Shop saw some of my work and told me of some goodies she had that I may be interested in……..so I had to go and look……yes dragging Duncan with me.

Would I be interested in the above and could I say no?????? NO so she give me these and the below I got for 50p each……

Duncan paid for these for me…….YES I am Spoilt!!!!!!!!

This afternoon after I finished my garden I took my newly delivered Craftseller mag and saw knitted wristband……so I had to have a go and this is what I have done……

I did get into such a tangle with the colours so I had to do a bit of looking for how to do this and I managed to do it……………I have made a few mistakes which I can see……can you??

I think I will have to wear these tomorrow to the gym.

Question?????

 

Hi guys,

I have a question for you. When I am at work I just want to craft, craft and more craft but when I get home I lose the mojo. Do you have this problem????

Well the tatting as been put down as I have had a major paddy with it……I am now crocheting a doily yes you read right a doily…….My good friend Tina give me a table cloth of crochet and it completely fascinates me with all the work that went into it and how was it constructed. I found this book on Amazon….

I have only had it a week and look at the state of it. It as been doing a lot of traveling in my new ruck sack. So the same night I had to try it out…..

This is how far I have got so far…….I have used I size 5 crochet thread that I got from the Wool Shop in Leeds. The crochet hook is 2mm……took a lot of swearing to get use to this size hook.

At the moment I am doing a ring of these flowers and joining as I go along………….this is very new to me……..

I am really enjoying doing this doily………………….I will have to show you the massive bargain I got from the lovely Sue at the Wool Shop last Saturday…..I love the fact this place is just around 3 corners from my house……Duncan may not be happy about it but I LOVE IT!!!!!

Have I impressed you yet?????

Must try Harder!!!!!

 

Hi guys,

Well I have been working so hard this afternoon with the new slippers and my shuttle tatting homework……which is going wrong….

Tina give me a little project to do…which was a bookmark by Carol Lepard. The first go is above and I did not do enough double stitches on the last ring and I closed it before I realized what I had done……..I did try to undo the ring but it would not work………..so I thought I would just start again………I have been working on the second attempt and I have just looked at it and I have now forgot one ring in the middle……completely forgot it…….bugger!!!!! The mistake below…..

I have to say that I am more happy with this effort as it does looks tidier than the first…………so in the morning I am at the gym and then I have a few jobs around the house and then I AM going to master this bookmark……..I was in Leeds market this morning and I saw these……

I nearly broke my neck getting these to the cashier on the stall. I have never seen crochet threads this fine on the market……may have to take another visit there later on this month………. They are Lesur Pixie in 20.

So hopefully tomorrow I will have a better tatting day………this is my first Shuttle tatting project I have ever done…………must try harder!!!!!

Knitted and crocheted slippers

 

Hi guys,

Well I did send Duncan back to the Wool Shop to get me some more of that yummy James C Brett Marble Chunky wool……well I did go with him for a nosey……..and this is what we brought back with us….

MMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! In my last post I mentioned that with the last ball of wool came a pattern by Sue Golthorpe who happens to run the Wool Shop with her other half Jon…………This is what I managed to make…….

Without the flowers. I decided to make the flowers with a 5.5mm crochet hook.

I think they are cool………….I have never made anything like this before and I think I have made a good effort…….wonder what Sue will think of them.

The Wool Shop to see what other lovely stuff they have. Best thing for me is that it is just around the corner from me and if I get stuck I can always go around for help.

Another Tea cosy

 

Hi guys,

Well my project today was knitting a tea cosy for my Mummy. Mummy is my best friend’s mum and I have called her Mummy for years. So I sent Duncan to the wool shop yesterday as I was having a tatting lesson in Barnsley with my mate Tina……he got me some more James C Brett Marble Chunky. Once again I have used the pattern from the Simply Knitting magazine. The designer is called Kirstie McLeod.

I am getting to really like this wool. This wool came with a pattern which I am going to have to try next………..when I send Duncan to the shop again for more wool……hehehehe.

For the cord I used my crochet hook instead of twisting it as in the mag.

I think I am going to use the left over wool from this ball to make flowers for my tea cosy….

Hi guys,

You will be sooooooo proud of me as I have finished drooling over some wool that I got for my Birthday…….yes from February.

I have used the James C Brett Marble Chunky……in purples  and I have made a tea cosy…….just like the orange prototype I made.

Remember this???????

I LOVE THIS WOOL!!!!!!!!

I just need to make some flowers for the top but could not wait before posting this.
