Hi guys,

What do you do when you can not work on your craft desk???????

I think this was Smudge saying he wanted the attention.

I think this looked meant “Get lost Mum!”

So I decided to make another alien but bigger…….. hehehehe

I will try to take better pictures tomorrow. I have used the Summer Stripes from Sirdar and a 4mm crochet hook.

Beware Alien!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,
I have been threating to crochet Duncan a little alien for months and months. The pattern is in the Simply knitting magazine. It was seen and the words “ I want one of them!” were said to me. Duncan at the weekend bought me that Super Cute Crochet by Nicki Trench so I thought the alien would be a good place to start then when I feel a little bit braver I can try some of the wonderful animals in this book.
So here is the alien:

I have manage to get the eyes sort of straight.

Sorry pictures not very good but I had to take quick pictures as Duncan is taking it to work with him in the morning as space as been made on his desk for it……….. and some people say us ladies are nuts for having cute toys on our desks!!!LOL

The wool is from the wool box and I have had it for years. I used a 3.5mm crochet hook. Buttons from the stash.
I have entered this little alien into the CRAFT Challenge blog and Allsorts Challenge of "Anything goes".

I am impressed!!!!

Hi guys,

Well I have got Duncan’s card to me and he as impressed me please see below on why??????

He as used my heart nesties which is a first for him and the white paper in the background was the instructions for the Big Shot.

He also used my heart embossing folder.

I did not get an envelope as this stumped him completely.

He as only got to make my Birthday card for next week and he is already struggling with this.

I am impressed!!!!

Valentine’s card to Duncan

Hi guys,
Well I can show you what I have done for Duncan for Valentine’s Day.

A love heart easel card…….I am really proud of this as it was an idea that I just played with. I used my heart nesties. A lovely little stamp from Nellie Snellen, coloured with promarkers.

I used my 3.5mm hook and made a crocheted heart. I added a little black button to go with the colour scheme.

I still can’t believe that this worked.

I had to show you the back as I did not know where to the put the writing so I just used more nesties and wrote on the back and made sure it can fold up when the card is flat.
Well we have already swopped cards and presents as Duncan does not want me waking him up at 6 in the morning. He also could not wait until the night.
I am going to enter this card into the Saturday Challenge which is "Red, white, Black with texture" and Cards for Men which is Valentines/Love.
Also the Papertake Weekly Challenge - Black, White and red all over.

Pammybear’s present

Hi guys,

I have done a little bit of crafting this weekend. The first bit I can not put up yet as it is Duncan’s Valentines card……so you will have to watch out for that very soon.

So last week it was Pam’s Birthday my friend at work………I was really ill last weekend so could not go out and get her presents. So this weekend I got this sorted…………We always buy gardening stuff for each other……So I got her some gardening gloves and seeds. Now what do I put then in………….so the ultimate pro came out and I made a box for them.

When I first took the pictures there was no tatted flower but I had to add something.

Embossing folders had to be taken out.

I enjoyed making this as it was a little bit different. I do hope she likes it.

First attempt at quilting

Hi guys,

My hubby as bought me the Art of Quilting and I have had my first go…….I think it a good idea to get some practise fabrics to practise on……….it’s a bit wonky………………if you had a couple of pints down you it would look a bit straight LOL.

I don’t use the sewing machine very much if at all………I am a total beginner.

Hmmmmmmm did not get the middle to centre up very well. I think I need more practice at this…..before starting on the fabrics you get with the mag.

We all have to start somewhere…….

Crocheted bunting

Hi guys,
I have been playing with the 4mm crochet hook a little bit more. I showed you 3 bunting triangles in an earlier post but I have done a little bit of practicing with what to do with them when done. Some people have added them to string but in my Art of Crochet magazines it shows you how to join with crochet and this is what I have tried.

I hope the model doesn’t put you off….LOL!

I thought them dangling over the laptop would not be as scary. A closer look…..

Even more playing!

Hi guys,

The last post of the day. Still with the 4mm hook I have made some crochet bunting. I found this most wonderful blog called Bunny Mummy Here. Go have a look at the brilliant projects she has made.:

So I have had a go and here is what I have managed to make:

I just used the pink and purple while trying this out.

Then added some white as I got a little bit more confident.

All 3 together.

By the way I found my crochet needles in a bag down in the room. So I had pulled everything out for nothing……….typical!!!!!

Had enough!!!!

Hi guys,

I have loads of stuff to do in the craft room but fancied doing a little bit of crocheting and guess what????????????I CAN NOT find my crochet needles. They are in a case and I can not see them for looking…….AAARRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IF I GET THE CLEANING BUG AGAIN PLEASE PLEASE STOP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what did I do…….well my lovely husband got a bonus from work and give me half of it so I had a little buy on Amazon and one of the things I bought was the Cath Kidston Crochet Book…….which thank goodness had a crochet hook in it………so with my 4mm hook and some wool I got with a mag I made the below……..the pattern is on the Little Birdie Secrets blog:

I was not happy with the big hole….but I can still use it for something in the future. So had to have another go.

A lot better and they are so quick to make.

So the question is where I have put my crochet case of needles????????????????……I NEED THEM!!!!!

Oh yeah the craft room is back in a mess!!!! LOL!!!!

WHY do I do it??????

Hi guys,

WHY do I do it??????? No I have not lost the plot but I have been trying to have a clear out in my craft room and a little bit of a re-arrange………..I started yesterday and I am still going………….I have found everything that was a brilliant idea when buying it….or in my case………telling the other half it was a brilliant buy. It was all put back with the intentions of using…….like the billion quilling strip's I have. I have managed to get rid of nothing as it might come in handy for a future project!!!!!! I have also put a few things in a better place for my crafting projects but when that project comes along I will not have a clue what I did with the object that is needed and end up pulling everything out. When the object is found then saying to myself……I remember why I put that there. Is this just me or do others have this problem??????? Come on be brave and let me know……..it will make me feel a bit better in knowing I am not the only one that starts this with the good intentions of making crafting easier for myself and this not happening.

Better get back to it……OMG I have found more quilling stuff!!!!! I really don’t remember buying all this…..

Card for Nanny!

Hi guys,

I had to make a card for Nanny to say thanks for the lovely Xmas presents. It has become a tradition that when she sends something I get to make a card and write a letter. I have to say that I enjoy doing this but this is really funny as this Duncan’s Grandma and I was suppose to do the card and Duncan do the letter……………I think she prefers the letter from me as getting a letter from a bloke could be painful especially from Duncan.

Here is what I have made.

OMG!!!! A Top 3!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guys,

I am in such shock as I have made the Top 3 over at the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge. I was at work and thought I would have a quick look at this weeks challenge………….and for the Top 3 was my name……..yes I had to read at least 4 times. The big boss thought I had lost my mables when I had to do a little jig in the office……….I then had to show him the card that I had entered and he was impressed…………..OMG!!! I still can not believe it………ok you maybe reading this and thinking she as lost the plot but this is my first Top 3 in anything and I am over the moon!!!!

Crocheted spiral flowers

Hi guys,

Back to work this morning and this just interferes with crafting…….I need a lottery win……….and I would have a better chance if I did it. I have been playing with my thread and very small crochet needles……here is what I have done…..

The darker one is done with a 1.75mm needle and the lighter one is done with a 2mm needle. I am used to using the bigger needles like 5mm with DK wool. Need to look for some green so I can try some leaves to go with them..

My Craft Room

Hi guys,

I thought I would let you into my little craft room. It is right up in the roof of the house or know as the Attic……..when I was a child it was my toyroom……….my sister was such a softy and it was either too warm in the summer or too cold in the winter. The thing that helped me was that the room next door to the toyroom was my bedroom so I got use to the heat or the lack of it in winter.

This is the main idea for me as this is the working bit…….The dark space to the left is the door to my bedroom. I have to say this is tidy as I thought with taking pictures it should be. I am still trying to sort my room out………I think this is always going to be a working progress.

I do most of my work under the skylight. To the right you can see THE CROP BOX!!!!!!!!! As you can see I have a bit more to with the tidying and sorting. Under the desk is loads of boxes full of more crafting stuff. My fav bit of the room is………………

My captain's chair…………I have had this for 7 years and I love it. The thing behind it was my arm chair but this was taken by Duncan for his gaming……….his station is below and my crafting stuff as been slowly been moved.

Yes at one point this was covered in crafting stuff!!! A lot as been moved to the below and I do have to sort this badly.

The flowers were left over from the wedding and the cupboards are full of crafting mags and stuff.

Xmas card and Sunday sketch and Stamp Challenge

Well it is chucking (raining) it down here in Leeds. Duncan gone to see his Daughter, Tabitha and I am at home with Jennifer who is not having the best of days…….it as been a lot worse in the past but the house is quiet at the moment……so I am making the most of it. I have followed another sketch from the wonderful challenge blog Sunday sketch and Stamp challenge……

So what I have I done this time……well I have done something brave for me. See below….

I have added BEADS!!!!!!!!!
I have used papers from the crop box ( this box seems to get fuller and fuller every time I go near it!). Beads have been in a drawer for a few years…….another secret!!!!!!!! I have used the Penelope and Percy stamps from Daisy and Dandelion Christmas Collection. I have used my Promarkers to colour and the every present nesties…………I don’t think I could make a card without my nesties. Oh and the ribbon is from the stash. I have even embossed the me to you saying.....

I would also like to enter this card into the ABC Challenge which is E is for Embossing.

Birthday Card

It is my Best Friend Tina’s Birthday and I find doing cards for her so hard. She is another crafter and you want to do something special. So I have followed a sketch from Fetch a Sketch:

So this is what I have done:

I have used papers from the stash and I can’t remember where I got as it is sooooooooooooo old. I have done paper piecing for the first time on the stamp from the Kanban Fairy Cakes collection. Ribbon from the dusty drawer. I have used my sewing machine………..On the inside I have used more stash paper and added a tatted flower………well I had to do this as it was Tina who introduced me to tatting…

It is also a good thing that Tina loves Purple just like I do.

So I think I will enter this into the Fetch a Sketch challenge.

Karen’s Leaving card

Tomorrow I work with close friend for the last time…….so sad! We have worked together for over 4 years and we have become close friends. So I have made her a bright card as she hates winter and I thought the colours would cheer her up a bit. I have also followed a sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday:

I have to admit this sketch scared me a little as it is so busy in my eyes…….but do you know something ………I really enjoyed following it and I love the result.

The papers are from Kate Knight Totally Tropical Summer papers. The purple paper is left overs from the wedding invites. Ribbon and buttons from the stash.

The stamp is Magnolia. I have used my promarkers to colour her in.
I have also entered this card into the Alphabet challenge Blog which is V for Very Vibrant and I think this card does qualify.

I have used a stamp from the Pepper’s Christmas party. I have to admit that this is the first time I have used it……ssshhhhhhhh this our little secret!!!!!

I have used pencil crayons to colour the image in. I have also used nesties Label 1 set. Paper is from the Daisy and Dandelion Christmas collection. The 2 squares shapes from the Papermania paper shapes collection, which I have used my Cuttlebug snowflake embosser folder. Ribbon is from the dusty draw…..

Knitted fingerless gloves

Tatted necklace

Yes another card for another challenge……I think I am on a roll. The challenge is for the One Stitch at a Time Challenge…….the challenge is “Be Square”

This is what I came up with:

The red and green squares are from the Papermania paper shapes in rich tones. I have had this for years…….sssshhhhhhhhhh don’t let the hubby hear. The patchwork Dove is from the Woodware craft collection. I used my promarkers to colour it in.

Another shock for today!!!!!! I have made another card……..no tatting this time LOL!

It is a sketch on Sketch Saturday……….Sketch’s are ace when the mojo is slowly coming back.

This is the sketch above and below is what I have made.

I have used another stamp in the Molly Blooms collection by Clare. Coloured with my Promarkers. Papers are from the Dovecraft Winter Wonderland pack……..yes more paper in the stash. Used my rectangles nesties and Martha Stewart punch for the fancy edge.

First Xmas card made this year!

Hi guys,

Yes you read correctly….I have made my first Xmas card this year……..I know I am terrible!!!!!!!! My excuse is that the mojo is still returning slowly and you can not rush these things. This card is for Nanny…….Duncan’s Grandma.

If you look closely I have managed to add some of the tatting………listen I have to make use of this or the Hubby will be asking the question why do I tat if I can not use it. This would effect the purchasing in the future……I have thought about this quite a bit. LOL!!!!

I have used the stamp Molly Blooms designed by Clare……I think I could fall in love with these stamps. I have used my Promarkers to colour her in. The papers have been in the stash for years and I have been braved and used them at last………….I am sure there a other crafters who understand this and have papers in the stash that come out for that special card and at the end of the project goes back into the stash with drool marks at the edges!!!! Come on own up!!!!!!!

Well I have to think of what the next card is for me to make…………the brain cell is hurting already……LOL.

Tatting

Hi guys,

Remember me????????????? I think the crafting bug is coming back very slowly………….

You may have seen in earlier posts about my first attempt at tatting the shuttle way……..I have to admit I was finding it really hard as I was told my chains were slack ( story of my life). I had a bright idea as I was not going to give up…….Oh No!!!!! So I got the new hubby to buy me some tatting needles. I thought if I got use to this way I could then move onto the shuttle tatting………are you ready for the show???????

How brave am I letting you see the close ups?

It is supposed to be a bookmark but I think I need practice on the thread bit…….it is a first go and I managed to join on more thread when I had run out…….I can hear you say how clever I am…..LOL.

I forgot to stitch my ends in as I was so giddy to show everyone what I have achieved.

Getting back on track

Hi guys,

For a start my new husband had to buy me new PC as mine was dying but seems to have made a recovery since the new PC turned up last week. Computers are weird……..I have to admit I have taken to reading……..I started the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series again…………….well the story started with Duncan ( yes it his fault!!!!!) he bought me books 1 to 10 years ago and I sat and read them and found out to my disgust that the story had not finished and I had to wait for the others……when it comes to books I am NOT that patient. So there were put onto the shelf………..well book 11 came out and there was more to be done…..last year Duncan found book 12 which my dad read straight away as he had just finished them………but me or no I could not read it I had to start from the beginning which I did and I have just got onto book 12 and my dad has just finished book 13 waiting for the last book. I have to admit that starting the series was a good idea on my part as I had forgotten so much and it is a series that you can read over and over again. So I am nearly there and this as taken up a lot of my time……………….I have started to do some crochet so I am slowly getting back into the crafting. Also I have bought some tatting needles to try this out……so watch out……

Got married at last!!!!

Learning to Tat

With the wedding plans,working and my cross stitching project I have been trying the art of tatting

I have to admit I am not very good and I need loads,loads,loads and loads of more practise…….now Paperlace as taken to this art like a duck to water and she has been trying to teach me………..yes she as the patience of a saint……this is what I have done so far.

I have been told that my rings are ok but I am slack on the chains……I think that means more practise.

Update on the cross stitch

Father’s Day card

Hi guys,

I made this card for my soon to be father in law.

I had to used the Magnolia Edwin as Robin Hood. I used my Promarkers to colour him in.

Card is from the crop box that is still over flowing. I really think there is some breeding going on in there. LOL

I used my distress inks for the stamped images. The writing is from Word and is called Ale and wrenches…………….I think this fits with the theme I have going. Duncan delivered this card this afternoon and was told it was brill. Buttons from the ever growing collection.

Wool glorious Wool!!

Hi guys,

The other half took me to the local Wool shop which is about 3 corners away from the house……very dangerous. Last year I took knitting lessons with them so I am well known and when I pick wools they always find me something better and at a better price. When I made the 3d butterflies in the white and purple colours I wanted more colours to do more. I still had some of the voucher left from my Birthday……..this worked and I came out with loads of wool.

These are Sirdar Double Knit Summer Colours and Calico double knit. LOVE LOVE THEM!!!!

The one on the left is Magi-Knit Baby DK and the other 3 are Dollymix DK. I got these because I have seen an ace You Tube video for cupcakes and I want to give these a go. I also got the below for my new interest of tatting.

So what have I done so far with these beautiful wools besides drooling and stroking them…….

More 3d Butterflies. The bottom is for Duncan before he moans I never make him anything. The others are for my mates at work. I have had a week off but not gone anywhere so I have made them something instead of the sweets.

Butterfly card

Hi guys,
This is what I did with the 3d butterfly I made.

The backing paper is from the stash that I have for ages. I used the Fergus with Cupcake from Wild Rose Studio. He is soooooo cute. I used my promarkers to colour. Used the circle nesties. I was brave and used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges. The sentiment at the bottom is from Pumpkin the Cheerleader collection from Daisy and Dandelion.

Wedding invites

Hi guys,

Well at last I have designed the invites and they are all in the post. We are getting married in August and you know what it is like plans never really go right but the invites have as I have done all the work and not told anyone really until to the postie dropped them thr’ the letter boxes.

I just love the Magnolia stamp. The nesties I used where Labels 4 for the stamped image. Small labels for the wedding invitation which is embossed with detail gold powder. The hearts are from the classic scalloped and classic heart. I have used the hearts embossing plate from crafts-too.

I have used the PC to do inserts and used labels 17 with a little bit of pink chalk to distress the edges a bit.

Cross stitch project update

I have not done an update on my cross stitch project in a long time…….how naughty of me. I did have a couple of weeks with a break from it but I am back on track and I am still enjoying it. It does help when I get in trouble every dinner time with people at work asking why I have not finished it yet!!!! Some people are so impatient!!!!!!!!

Gardening

Hi guys,

I was a bit busy last weekend with doing the garden. I have planted loads of seeds and a few bulbs. Here are the pictures of my hard work….

The above picture is of my rhubarb which is already growing and the little thing at the left hand side is one of the bulbs that I have planted. I can’t wait for the rhubarb crumbles…….hmmmmmmmmm………….

I planted these 2 pansies last year and they survived the snow and are still flowering. I love them as they are my favourite colour..Purple.

The pot on the wall is my attempt at growing herbs. The green plants at the bottom are my bluebells which I love and the lavender in front of the cellar gate.

I did all the digging myself with a little fork and added the compost. I am proud of my efforts and hopefully I will be able to do a picture in a couple of months showing all the pretty flowers. I am very new to gardening so fingers crossed.

Does anyone want to kiss my hand better I got a blister with all the hard work?????

Catch U a Birthday Wish

On this card I have used Edwin again with a little net. Knitted Heart

Hi guys,

For my Birthday my Best Friend got me a gift voucher for my local wool shop. So I went yesterday to see what I could get up to. I have 2 patterns I have that I would love to have a go at so I took these with me and I managed to get all the wool and new needles with change………………….so my voucher as been up dated for the next visit.

The first project was called shaker hearts from The Art of Knitting issues. It as taken me a day and half to do but I am so proud that I kept going when things did not go well.

So here are the pictures:

The wool I used was Sirdar Calico DK in purple, blue and white.

There was going to be a ribbon so it could be hung up but I didn’t quite get this bit right and it ended up on the inside…………….I hope you are not laughing too hard about this. I think I have got that bit sorted for the next one.

My next Cross stitch project

Hi guys,

I have started my next cross stitch project and I thought to keep motivated on it I could upload my progress on this blog. I find that with cross projects I start off with determination and then after a couple of weeks the project starts to be pushed to one side with other projects that I want to start. The last project of the Dragon I used filament and I had never used this before and I could not get to grips with it so it was put to one side. It was left for quite a while until I heard about thread heaven but I never got back to it until last year when it was a matter that I have to do it and I really didn’t want to be beaten by a cross stitch. So I unpicked the little patch I had done and started all over again. Same again I had about a 2 month gap on it until I could motivate myself.

So back to the original story………….I have started a new project and I am going to post my progress as I go along. I have to say that I have had this cross stich in my box for about 11 years. I actually bought this project to do for Jennifer when she was about 1 but I never got around to it………I know I am terrible…………. So to my first pictures…………

As you can see it is not a small project.

Duncan’s Valentines card

Bird House

Hi guys,

I have done a little crafting besides the cross stitch. My friend at work…Sue loves her garden and last year I did her a candle and matching card with a garden theme and this year it was like what could I do………along came the Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine with a little bird house……..so I spent a weekend doing……..this……

I used papers from the Papermania Blueberry Hill collection and from My Mind’s Eye collection. The boarder punch is an old Friskars one…………collecting dust on a shelf.

I have to say that my friend was completely gobsmacked……….. and this shocked quite a few people in the office.

There is only one problem now and that everyone expects something like this. I told Sue she would get a normal card next year and I was told that I had to beat that………..I have a year to think of something.

At last………finished!

Hi guys,

I have been very quiet for a few weeks and the reason is below:

I let Duncan pick a Dragon cross stitch about 3 years ago and I did say that I would do it for Christmas………in my wisdom I never said which Christmas ( Good thinking on my part). While you have the colour thread I also had to use filament which I had never heard of. As soon as I received it, I started on the project. I could not get on with the filament at all so it was put away until last Easter. I went to my mates……..Paperlace………..and unpicked it all ( this was about 30 stitches) and started all over again but with a new tool…….thread heaven…………….which I think is better than sliced bread. It was put away a few times due to other crafty projects and work but I finally finished just after the New Year!!!!! I have to say it drove me up the wall quite a few times but I am so proud of the finished Dragon……..even Duncan is impressed.

I have now started on another project so watch this space.

I had to make a Thank you card for Nanny as she give me, Duncan and Jennifer money for Christmas which comes in very handy for our hobbies. Jennifer put hers towards a game for her DS. Duncan put his money towards a game for his new Xbox and of course I put my money towards new toys for card making.

My crocheted boxes

Hi Guys,

Like I said before that I seem to pick crafts I can do downstairs in the room as my craft room is quite cold in winter. I decided that for Christmas presents I would make Duncan’s mum and Sister in Law some crochet boxes with a little something inside.

Here they are and I am so proud of them.

The pattern I used did not have the white edges or the flowers. The edge I did by myself and the flower I got out of a weekly mag I get.

My craft room is up in the attic and it can get quite cold up there even with the heating on…….so I seemed to do a bit of cross stitching, knitting now I know how to……and crochet as I can do this in the room.

Jennifer’s Birthday card with a little difference

Well on Wednesday my little baby is 12 years old……still going on 99!!!!! Since she started High School in September she as really taken to baking and cooking. So I wanted to do something in this theme …….so I had to go out and buy the Tilda Chef from Magnolia……….this is my excuse and I am really sticking to it.

I saw this brilliant idea on another Blog called Creations by Christie where she made a mini book with a sheet of 12 X12 paper……….so the one brain cell went into overdrive and this is what I have made for Jennifer’s Birthday.

So after buying the Tilda Stamp I had to use it on the front cover. I coloured her in with Promarkers and used my circle nesties. I decided to keep things simple for Jennifer.

I used my Labels 2 nesties and stamps from the Kanban Fairy cakes collection. I used the promarkers again.

I used my stencils that I had at school myself and just cut the 1 and 2 for the middle pages.

I used my blossom nesties and once again the stamps from the Kanban Fairy cakes collection. I do have a little soft spot for these stamps.

I used the stamp from the Daisy and Dandelion The secret woodland collection of Daisy baking. Just used my promarkers to colour in and my rectangle nesties to layer up.

To make the tags I just used plain white card and then used publisher to get the ingredients on one side and the instructions of recipes on the other side. The recipes are rock buns which she loves to make with Daddy. Basic sponge cake recipe and brownies which took 3 sides to to.

I do hope she likes this and so do you.

Even more homework!

I know I am so badly done to………we learnt about cable. We were given a little piece to do and this is what I did:

It is a bit fiddly at first but ok when you get the hang of it. Well…………………………….we were given a project that was a little bit more advanced based on cable and my project is below……………..

……….a pair of wrist warmers. We had to follow a pattern and sew it up with techniques we had already been taught. I have to say my thumb holes are a bit off but they are very nice to wear…..really warm.

Here is a picture with me on with one.

So I have made my first garment and I am proud of them.

Knitting Homework

Well I thought I would give an update on the knitting lessons. I have a book on knitted squares, which as loads of patterns for squares so that you can make up into cushions or throws. So I took this book to one of my knitting lessons as there was a square I wanted to try. The square as a leaf in one corner and it looks ace and complicated. So I asked the question on how to follow the instructions and here is what I did:

My little helper

I thought you may like to see my little helper. This is Smudge who is 2 years old and when I am in my craft room he comes up and stays with me. At this moment he is laid on the comfy chair asleep. Before I boil my kettle I have to put water in his bowl and then I can make myself a cup of tea. Some times he can be a pain and sprawl all over the craft area and I think this is to tell me he is the boss and not me........a true guy who thinks he is in charge....

Knitting Lessons

Hi Guys,

Yes you have read correctly I have been having knitting lessons. I remember when I was small and my Grandma teaching me to knit and purl. I made scarves for my dolls but that was about it. I thought that Jennifer may want to learn to knit and who would teach her..............I don't think my Mum would bother who struggles to see her. So I have a wool shop just round the corner and they were giving lessons so I joined up. The first projects we made were mobile phone covers........so here are my efforts......

This first cover is done in garter stitch which is all knit rows.

This second cover started in garter stitch and the middle done in stocking stitch......knit one row then purl one row. Do this until you have the length you need and then finish in garter stitch.

I have to admit that this third cover is my favourite and is in use and if you look very closely at the top you can just see my mobile.

The best bit was learning to stitch the pieces up and making them look proper. I have to admit I am really proud of these mobile covers............I now have to make more for people who like them.......................Should keep me quiet for a while.

Hi guys,

Had another tough day at work but all I wanted to do at work was Craft and then when I get home the crafting is all forgotten but I made an effort tonight and here is what I have done.

The stamp is from the Lili of the Valley collection. I do love this stamp. I used my Promakers to colour this pair in.

I used Gold and red mirror board to layer up.

You know what it like girls when making a card and you are looking for something to go with the card and what happens you find something else and start to have a little play and the card ends up a little different to what you were planning in the first place. I am glad I found the quilling papers. It is a while seen I played with this technique.

Well I am going to enter this card into the challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge as I have used red and gold. Well I hope I have used enough.

As the other half bought the new stash I had to use it to keep him quiet........well that is my excuse.

This had to be the easiest one I did but my favourite. The stamp is one a got a while back in a sale and never used. I used chalks on it. The nesties were dragged out to make the aperture in the card and for a bit of layering with the stamp. The Magic Christmas is from the Kanban Betsie Bob- Magic Christmas set.

Get Sketchy and Christmas

Hi guys,

I know.......before you all start I have not posted in ages.................I craft in the attic and it gets a bit cold so I have put the heater on so I can craft and the other half bought me loads of Christmas stamps this weekend so I had no excuses not to craft.

Get sketchy had this sketch and it got me thinking......which is dangerous for me.

So what did I do with this besides burn some rubber in the head.

This is one of the stamps the other half bought me. It is from the Kanban set called Betsie Bob - Magic Christmas. Not one for Tree stamps but I do like this one.

I can't believe that this card covers 4 challenges..............I was just concentrating on 1 challenge and realised it could be entered into another....and another........ the challenges are:

Just Magnolia - 2x2 example have to use 2 papers or 2 embellishments. For this card I have used 2 papers and a Magnolia stamp.

Friday Sketchers - To follow an very nice sketch.

Cute Card Thursday - "Make your own!" Embellishments had to be made not bought. I used parchment paper and flower punches.............I borrowed from a friend. I had to emboss the petals to make the flowers more 3D.

Allsorts - I have to be brave here and say that I was not going to enter this as I struggle with these themes. I made the card and when I looked at the lovely Edwin I just thought of Love me Tender by Elvis..............Edwin to me is a character that as to be loved he is sooooo cute.

My other half bought me a book that showed you how to make cupcakes. This is my first effort:

I think I will give these another go. I don't think too bad for a 1st go and I know I am not that good at sewing things together.

Hi guys,

I have made this card and it fits 4 challenges......yes 4 more challenges.

First challenge is Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog - Black and Pink

Second challenge is Sketch Saturday - Follow a sketch

Third Challenge is Secret Crafter - Aything goes

Fourth Challenge is Magnolia challenge - Lace it up

I used the following materials:

Paper from the Dovecraft wedding pack
Rectangle nestie
Magnolia stamp with promarkers
The oval I used the computer
Black card
Quilling paper for the heart
Wool for the crochet flowers
Lace from stash.

So after the 12 chapters above here is the card:

I am really happy with the crochet flower as I was playing with different types of wool and sized hooks.

Passion for Promarkers and Sketch Saturday

Hi Guys,

I have decided to combine one card for 2 challenges. For Passion for Promarkers the theme was "Sweet Treats" So the cupcake theme was used. Sketch Saturday was a lovely sketch so I have used this to make an easel card.

I have used the following:

Pink card from the crop box. I really think that box is getting fuller and fuller every time I go near it.

Square and Dahlia nesties.

Daisy and Dandelion The Secret Woodlands clear stamps featuring Daisy.

The patterned paper is from the Dovecraft Birthday Designer pack.

Ribbon from stash

I have also been brave again and used the sewing machine. I have to admit I do like this technique.

I used another of the stamps from the Daisy and Dandelion which is from the Daisy selection. I have also used the Martha Stewart cupcake border punch. I do love this punch!

I used my Dahlia nesteis for the little cute cupcake.

C.R.A.F.T. Dog challenge

Hi guys,

Over at C.R.A.F.T Challenge the theme is Dogs so here is my card.

It's my Dad's Birthday tomorrow so I made a deal with Jennifer that she did her homework and I would make the card.

The surprising thing is.......that this worked and she did her homework...........I am in shock!

I used red pattered paper that I have had since day one of crafting. Label three nesties. Some red ribbon I had in the stash. It's a simple card as my Dad is not a fussy person.

Flutter By Wednesday Challenge

Hi guys,

On the Flutter By Wednesday Challenge blog it was follow a sketch and this is what I made. I used:

Blossoms nesties
Paper from crop box that was collecting dust

Ribbon from stash

Card candy and a sticker

Can not forget the lovely stamp from Lili of the Valley called Rose Fairy

To make this flower I cut 8 smallest blossom nesties and then just screwed them all up. Added a brad into the middle and then unfurled the edges a little bit until I was happy.

Another 4 in 1 card

Hi guys,

I made this card for 4 challenges.......I am getting good.......I wish!

First challenge is for the ABC challenge which is C for charm. This is new to me as I don't ever use charms. I have a few but not many....actually I think I have 5 left.

I crochet the flower myself with wool that I have in a box and used my 3mm hook. Because of the wool flower I am going to add this to the Cute Card Thursday challenge. The theme for this is material girl and material had to be used on the card so I think my flower will work for this.

Third challenge is I love Pormarkers, I coloured my lovely image in with Pormarkers and this image is a Lelo Design........he is so sweet. The theme at I love Promarkers is Myth and Magic and I associate Dragons with Myth even is he is so cute.

And the fourth challenge is Inspiration card Sketch challenge using they very nice sketch.

Well this is the card I made using the sketch on this weeks challenge over at the Sketch Saturday.

I used the following:

Labels nine nesties
Paper from crop box.....I really need to empty this box a little bit....well.......a lot.
My Martha Stewart cupcake border and corner punch.
The image is from Lili of the valley stamp collection. I used my Promarkers a lot better after my little lesson from Mozza from Trimcrafts.
Ribbon form stash with the little bling squares.

Duncan's card from me.Dad and Jennifer

Hi guys,

These are the cards that I made for Duncan's Birthday (Dingusdee).

This is the card from Dad. Well there is a little story on this......Dad is a Leeds Utd fan and Duncan is a Scunthorpe fan and now they are in the same league. So the fighting in the house as started. Dad asked for a card in Leeds Utd colours as he knew Duncan would love it........NOT. It is a good thing that Duncan as a sense of humour.

This is the card from Jennifer. Daddy like's his baking so I stamped a few cupcakes on the background and embossed them in different coloured powders. I then made a 3d larger cupcake.

This card is from me. It was my first attempt at a step card. I am not quite happy with it but Duncan loved it.
